Learn to bake sourdough! This popular class is an introduction to the experience of baking sourdough bread with our flavourful, freshly milled flours, specially crafted with the beginner or intermediate baker in mind. Classes focus specifically on the benefits of baking with whole grains and provide tips and tricks for improving your home baking experience. 

Sourdough Baking with Flourist

Sourdough Baking with Flourist focuses on the techniques and tricks specifically required for baking sourdough with freshly milled Flourist flours. 

In this 3 hour class, you will learn the basics of feeding and maintaining a healthy starter, and will learn to bake sourdough bread from scratch. This includes hands on instruction from our professional bakers. 

You will also have an introduction to scoring techniques on a loaf to bake in class and will leave with a shaped loaf in your new banneton to bake at home. Light snacks and beverages are also provided. Wine and beer will be available for purchase by the glass or bottle. 

Included in the class price is a jar of Sourdough Starter, a Round Banneton, and a Wood Handled Bench Scraper. 

All sales final. No refunds or substitutions.

Great Class

Had a really fun evening learning how to make some sourdough. Instructors were super nice and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend if you're not kitchen savvy (like me) and want to learn how to bake some good bread!

Sourdough bread class

Overall I believe this was a good class and provided a good hands on for beginner sourdough bakers. I would only recommend this for beginners though and not intermediate. The only complaint is that there was too much down time/waiting around with nothing to do in between the stretch and folds. Class needs to think of something to fill in that time. In previous classes that I've taken elsewhere there was never as much sitting around At any rate great shop and great products.

Sourdough bread class

Amazing class! Campbell was a very good instructor. I would highly recommend this class to everyone. We had lots of yummy snacks and went home with 2 loaves of bread! Flourist has very high quality products you can purchase that night too.

Sourdough Class at the Flourist

I would highly recommend this class! There is no replacement for hands on learning. It was so great to be able to get a feel for the dough and the different techniques involved in the different steps of the sourdough process. The instructors were super knowledgeable. It was so useful to ask the instructors questions in real time and have them help me trouble shoot issues that I have experienced baking at home. My bread at home has improved since doing the class! I learned so much and I had a really great evening :)
