Organic Whole Grain Rye Flour
Perfect for pastry, bread, cakes and cookies!
Flourist Whole Grain Rye Flour is milled from organically grown Musketeer Rye from Vonda Saskatchewan. Also know as Dark Rye, this flour contains 100% of the original grain, and is rich in fibre and flavour. Use it in cookies, breads and any recipe that calls for rye flour. You can also supplement sifted flours to add a whole grain rye flavour and nutrition boost.
Wonderful for bread recipes!
I ordered some Organic Whole Grain Rye Flour to make the Walnut Cranberry Sourdough Bread recipe from The Perfect Loaf (https://www.theperfectloaf.com/walnut-cranberry-sourdough/) - and it was a wonderful choice! The resulting loaf was delicious and I fully intend to use the rest of my flour to experiment with other rye bread dough recipes. I didn’t realize that this flour is milled to order (I must have missed that), which explains the slightly longer wait time for delivery - but it was well worth it. :) I’ll also comment that the flour was very sturdily shipped and the brown paper bag the flour is packaged in is embarrassingly stronger than any flour bag I’ve ever purchased from a local store. Quality through and through is the message here. In summary and based on this purchase, I highly recommend Flourist flours and will definitely order again. Cheers!
This is a great rye flour; I started ordering Flourist flours in 2019, and this is one of my favourites. Sourdough starter loves this flour, and grows rapidly after feeding. I use this in breads, simple cakes, and cookies, and have even concocted my own recipe for sourdough discard cookies that turned out very well. Great quality and freshness.
Love the extra flavour that this adds
I usually use the rye flour in a mix with sifted and whole grain red spring from my seedy bread. Ran out of the rye, so just used the others, and my husband really noticed something missing. I will be adding it back from now on. Love the extra flavour dimension that this adds.
I had never used Rye flour before purchasing this but as usual the quality from Flourist goes above and beyond expectations.
The best flour east of Ottawa... ;)
I'm located in the province of Québec. I LOVE Flourist's flours. Their flat shipping cost is unique amongst Mill's. I have tried 6 other rye flour in quebec (including Bulk Barn which isn't really local...) and all of them have a drier and less absorbant rye flour. Plus, My starter rises at least a good 15% to 25% more with Flourist's Rye Flour. I know there is a science explaining all of this and I'll let you figure it out. I love it!
