Flourist Golden Quinoa: A Cooking Guide

Golden Quinoa is a whole grain packed full of nutrients that is perfect for salads and grain bowls. Our Flourist Golden Quinoa is extremely high in protein and comes from Jamie Draves in Iron Springs Alberta. Learn more about our farmers here.

Cooking Method
Rinse Golden Quinoa well under cold water. Combine 1 part Flourist Golden Quinoa with 1 1/4 parts water. Cover and bring to a boil then turn the heat to low. Keep covered and cook for about 20 minutes. After that time, remove from the heat but keep the lid on the pot for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes remove the lid and fluff with a fork.

Instant Pot Method
Rinse the Golden Quinoa well under cold water. Drain and combine with an equal amount of water in your Instant Pot. Cook on high pressure for 1 minute, then let sit for 12 minutes before manually releasing. Fluff with a fork and strain any excess water.

Nutritional Notes
Golden Quinoa is considered a superfood as it is a great source of vitamins, minerals, and iron. As it is a whole grain, it is high in a lot of nutrients that tend to be lost in many other foods due to over-processing. It also contains all nine of the essential amino acids which makes it a complete protein.

Golden Quinoa is very high in insoluble fibre. This is extremely beneficial for maintaining a healthy digestive system. It can greatly aid in health issues to do with digestion and is an excellent addition to your diet.

Flourist Golden Quinoa is naturally higher in protein than South American quinoa varieties and has a very low glycemic index. This is believed to be important for maintaining a healthy weight and metabolism.
