Flourist Whole Grain Spelt Flour is milled from organically grown Spelt Spring wheat from Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. This flour contains 100% of the original grain, and is rich in fibre and flavour. Use it in cookies, breads and any recipe that calls for whole wheat flour. You can also supplement sifted flours to add a whole grain flavour and nutrition boost.
Spelt is an ancient grain that was popular in Europe for centuries, especially in Germany, where it has been grown since 4,000 BCE and was by far the dominant wheat variety until the end of the 19th century.
As modern farming techniques arose in the 20th century, Spelt farming fell out of common practice around the world. This is because Spelt grains have a hard outer shell that must be removed before milling or cooking. But a renewed interest in ancient grains and their nutritional value has once again made it economical for farmers to plant Spelt.
Long prized for its very high protein content, Spelt lends a nutty aroma and flavour and soft, airy feel to breads and other baked goods.

Better then candy
This is my go to flour for feeding my family. My 7 years old will tell me if we run out and I use anything else! It’s sooooo good. It’s so complex and almost sweet. The texture is so soft, the smell is divine, it makes me feel like an artist using it ;-) Thank you

Spelt sourdough goodness
I love spelt flour as it adds such a nice flavour to my sourdough bread. I also used it in the sourdough milk chocolate chip cookie recipe and it was AMAZING. I had so many people tell me that they were the best cookies they’ve ever had and using the spelt flour definitely added to that.
