Flourist Whole Grain Rye Flour is milled from organically grown Musketeer Rye from Vonda Saskatchewan. Also know as Dark Rye, this flour contains 100% of the original grain, and is rich in fibre and flavour. Use it in cookies, breads and any recipe that calls for rye flour. You can also supplement sifted flours to add a whole grain rye flavour and nutrition boost.

Our hand-crafted Austrian stone mill slowly and gently crushes grain at a low temperature, a process that produces beautiful, aromatic, nutritious and delicious flour. The product bears little resemblance to the typical, highly processed shelf stable flour found on grocery store shelves. You’ll notice the difference right away: the colour is natural and the aroma is unmistakable.

Organic whole grain rye flour

My sourdough (100%) rye bread made with this flour has a much deeper flavour profile than loaves made with standard milled dark rye flour. This flour gives a deep, almost honey-like sweetness that I haven't tasted before in a rye bread, although aging (more than a few days) lessens this and brings out more traditional rye flavours. Because the milling is coarser the texture is also improved - from a fine, compact crumb to a more loosely textured crumb that had a good volume, possibly also due to the levain made with this flour being more active and strong. It was a real pleasure to eat this bread.

Incredible Freshly ****** milled grains! The aroma will get you. Be forwarded

I have been told over and over that if you want to taste REAL bread then more MUST bake with fresh STONE-MILLED flour. And the Flourist has provided me this incredible experience with their flour. The moment I opened up my box filled with 6 bags of flour and smelled the aroma I was impressed. Then when I opened up the bags of flour and saw the tiny whole grain specks I knew this would be a delightful experience baking with this flour. But the true test came when I baked my sourdough bread and the flour made my bread taste beyond the possibilities of outstanding sourdough bread. Yup, this is an experience best left to the taste buds and mine are hitting the “high C’s”. Thank you, Canuck living in Boston, MA Maria
