Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

One thing we know for sure is there is no such thing as too many banana bread recipes. We kept it simple with this one, with only 3 bananas, Flourist Sifted Red Fife Flour and chocolate chips.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread:
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1 egg
¾ cups granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup canola oil
1 1/2 cups Flourist Sifted Red Fife Flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
½  tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together the Flourist Sifted Red Fife Flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg and set aside.

In a medium bowl, mash the bananas coarsely. Add in the sugar and mix until combined. Gently fold in the vegetable oil, egg & vanilla and stir until the egg has been beaten. Do not overmix.

Create a well in the center of the dry mixture and pour in the wet ingredients. Stir until well combined. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, setting aside a few to sprinkle on the top.

Pour the batter into a lightly oiled loaf tin, and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top. Bake for 55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 30 minutes before removing from the tin.

  • Hello! May I ask why only baking powder is used? (No baking soda?) is that why it calls for 1.5 tbsp of baking powder?
I followed the recipe to the t and found the banana bread a bit crumbly (I used flourist red fife flour) thank you!!

  • Hi Debbie! A standard size loaf pan for this recipe is perfect ~ 8 × 4 or somewhere in there. I hope that helps!

  • Question re: Chocolate Chip Banana Bread. What size loaf pan do you recommend for this recipe?

  • Super easy to make. I was out of vegetable oil so I used melted butter.
It’s in the oven, I will let you know how it turned out shortly.
