Einkorn wheat was one of the first plants to be domesticated and cultivated. It is soft and crushes easily, resulting in a pillowy soft flour that is perfect for cakes, cookies, and loaves. We have opted for a 100% whole grain version since the bran mills down to be almost undetectable in the finished flour.
Sinclair River Farms is a third-generation farm run by Lorne & Monica Muller. Over the past 15 years, Lorne and Monica have paid great attention to their soil health, with a focus on regenerative farming. Regenerative farming is a practice aimed at continually improving the quality of the soil, rather than just maintaining it.
Our hand-crafted Austrian stone mill slowly and gently crushes grain at a low temperature, a process that produces beautiful, aromatic, nutritious and delicious flour. The product bears little resemblance to the typical, highly processed shelf stable flour found on grocery store shelves. You’ll notice the difference right away: the colour is natural and the aroma is unmistakable.
We recommend storing our fresh flours in the fridge or freezer to maintain freshness.

I discovered Flourist shortly before moving from Vancouver. Now I'm grateful for their flat rate shipping fees :) I love the texture and flavor this flour adds to my baking.
Une semaine pour la livraison, C'est raisonnable pour moi en temps de covid. La farine est de très bonne qualité. Les pains et les desserts font le plaisir de toutes ma famille. Miam!
Delightful to have such fresh and tasty Einkorn flour. I used to get the flour from another, very far away source. It feels much better to buy local and buying from Canadian farmers. We are very sensitive to wheat but find we have no troubles with Einkorn. Hoping Flourist can offer all purpose Einkorn at some point soon. As a bonus, since the covid problem and more people are baking, maybe this inspired our local bakers to use Einkorn more as I noticed that Flourist has started to add flour substitutions to their baking recipes! Yay!!! This is something I hope they continue to expand upon as this means that recipes that I wanted to make but couldn't, I can now make using the Einkorn flour. I desperately need more Einkorn recipes! Please please please! :) Although I prefer the whole grain, there are recipes that need the all purpose so that its lighter-less dense results. I purchased 2 flour sifters from Amazon (40 and a 60 mesh) so that I could turn this whole grain flour into an all purpose flour when needed and that has been working out nicely too. Just make sure to save the bran into a freezer ziplock bag and store in the freezer - pull out the bran and add to recipes as you need. I personally keep the thickness of the bran in 2 baggies - one is for the chunkier bran and the second is for the finer bran, this does make a difference for me in end results when adding a bit of bran back in here and there. This way you get the full value from your Einkorn purchases :)
Discovering this grain and learning how to work with it has been one of the greatest things to happen in my kitchen this last summer! Having the ability to source an amazing product from local farmer is beyond a bonus! Love this grain, love this product! Extra point granted with the family giving thumbs up also!
