Flourist Whole Grain Red Fife Flour
is milled from organically grown Red Fife wheat from Vonda, Saskatchewan. This flour contains 100% of the original grain, and is rich in fibre and flavour. Use it in cookies, muffins and any recipe that calls for whole wheat flour. You can also supplement sifted flours to add a whole grain flavour and nutrition boost. 

Red Fife wheat mills beautifully and lends a robust, rich earthy flavour to breads.

Our hand-crafted Austrian stone mill slowly and gently crushes grain at a low temperature, a process that produces beautiful, aromatic, nutritious and delicious flour. The product bears little resemblance to the typical, highly processed shelf stable flour found on grocery store shelves. You’ll notice the difference right away: the colour is natural and the aroma is unmistakable.

Whole Grain Red Fife in Blueberry Muffins

I recently replaced half of the flour in a blueberry muffin recipe with whole-grain red fife and I really enjoyed it. It made the muffins taste a little less cakey which is exactly what I was looking for.

Red fife in my sourdough

I took the most excellent course offered by the Flourist in December 2019 and made quite a few loaves following that recipe and have been gradually experimenting with Ken Forkish's recipe, though my starter is wetter than his so I make some adjustments. Using approximately 2/3 sifted red spring and 1/3 unsifted red fife has always made scrumptious bread but I have struggled to get a nicely rounded boule. I think I have that in hand these days... Anyway the red fife is lovely. I want to lead with it a bit and see where that takes me. One thing I especially like is the very fine bran - it's there but not like little pieces of plastic in supermarket whole wheat. I really appreciate Flourist's wonderful flours. Thank you!!! Highly highly recommended
